You Chose This Field for a Reason. Practice Where It Still Matters.
There is a moment many clinicians remember — the one that made them choose this work. Maybe it was a client who finally said the thing they had been carrying for years. Maybe it was the look on a child's face when someone, for the first time, actually listened. Maybe it was simply the knowing: that this work changes lives, and that you were meant to do it.
Then the paperwork started. The productivity quotas. The decisions made by administrators who had never sat in the room with a family falling apart. The creeping sense that the system you entered to serve people had become the thing standing between you and the work that actually matters.
You are not alone in that feeling. And you are not wrong.
This September, as TI System of Care spotlights Family and Children Resources, we are thinking about the families in South Carolina and North Carolina who are waiting — not because care doesn't exist, but because there are not enough licensed clinicians to meet them where they are. Children who need behavioral health support. Families navigating crisis without a therapist who truly understands their community. The gap is not a funding problem. It is a workforce problem. And you can be part of closing it.
The POUR Network — Provide, Offer, Uplift, Rebuild — is a cross-state ecosystem of practitioners and community resources built around a simple principle: individuals and families should be connected to the right help regardless of their payer source. Participation does not require you to become a TI Medicaid provider. What it requires is a commitment to community-first care and the belief that your clinical skills are most powerful when they are part of something larger than a single caseload.
If you are a licensed clinician — LCSW, LCMHC, LPC, QP, or psychotherapist — working in South Carolina or North Carolina, we want to talk. Not to hand you a caseload and walk away. To build something with you. A practice environment where the mission is real, the support is present, and the reason you chose this field is still the center of the work.
Families are waiting. The system of care is growing. Your place in it is open.
